Office Business Application Bridges Gaps and Extends the Reach of Line-of-Business Application
SYSPRO’s fully-integrated business software provides control over the planning and management of all facets of business. SYSPRO sought to extend and streamline access to its line-of-business (LOB) applications to improve productivity and increase the use and value of the data and processes managed by its applications. Thanks to the power and flexibility of the 2007 Microsoft® Office system, SYSPRO developed an Office Business Application (OBA) to expand and improve access to its LOB applications. By leveraging the powerful combination of software and services (S+S), the OBA provides secure access to SYSPRO data via services—delivered on premise or from the “cloud”—directly within Microsoft Office applications. By expanding access to external business partners and improving access for internal workers, the solution is expected to significantly increase the ROI for SYSPRO applications.

What is Lean Manufacturing?
In the business world of today, it is appropriate to ask how LEAN and ERP interact – if at all – and specifically whether they are mutually supportive, mutually exclusive or independent concepts altogether.
In this paper Syspro respectfully present their conclusion, namely that some LEAN initiatives can be hugely strengthened with a synergistic ERP implementation and vice versa, whereas in other cases the two efforts should really be viewed as separate initiatives and managed independently from each other.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Broadly speaking, the objective of enterprise resource planning (ERP) is to integrate all departments and functions in an organisation onto a single computer system that can serve all those different sections’ particular needs. In considering where ERP may lead the modern organisation, it is helpful to reflect on the origins of all business information systems.
Historical Development
Business Information Systems
Business information systems have the four roles of functional support, decision support, strategic support and a performance-monitoring role. Information systems most basic function is that of business process and operations support. This involves the collection, recording, storing and basic processing of data. At a higher level, information systems are required to support decision making processes through the analysis of statistical data. Information systems also have the requirement of supporting a company’s competitive positioning. “Business Workflow Analysis” tools allow better integration and control of an organisation’s functional elements and the real time analysis of the cost of dysfunctions. Lastly business or management information systems are used to establish relevant and measurable objectives and then to monitor results and performances.
